Design Team Projects and a Shop Update

Our Design Team are, quite simply, the BEST! We love working with them, feel so priviliged to be getting to know them better and are very proud when we get to show their projects on our Ribbon Girl blog. Just look at what they have been making over the last few weeks

You might notice that we have been having a move around in the shop (and are still working on this). During the last few weeks we've taken delivery of lots of new products and expanded our range of ribbons and ribbon embellishments so much that we've had to create several new sections to the shop. Also some ranges were 'sharing' a section but now that we've added extrra colours and designs we've given these their own home.  I shall try to go back through the blog and change the links to products but in the meantime, if you do follow a link and end up in the wrong section of the shop the sidebar will help guide you to where you need to be.  It might take us a few days to get everything where we want it and we're also waiting for a couple of deliveries from America with new products so keep checking back.

We've had a great response to our Colour Challenge and it's open for another week, there is a great prize on offer in the prize draw so enter your project and you might win

Sew Sweet

Kath makes the most gorgeous cards and when this popped into our email inbox there was a sharp intake of breath!
Isn't it gorgeous? I love the little details that Kath has added like the polka dot button on the front of the sewing machine, the thread running through the machine down to the needle and the lace positioned to look like it is being sewn in the sewing machine.

Colour Challenge #1

This is the first challenge here on the Ribbon Girl blog and it's a colour challenge
The challenge is to create a project with the main colour focus of black, white and orange and use the InLinkz button at the end of this post to enter your card. The links will close on Sunday October 3rd (Midnight UK time), and we'll randomly select one project to win this gorgeous prize from The Ribbon Girl.

As long as your project is linked by Midnight (UK time) October 3rd, you will be in the draw.

Please mention The Ribbon Girl in your blog post, use the colours black, orange and white as your main colour focus and be sure to link directly to the blog post or gallery image which features your project.  You don't have to use ribbons on your project but it would be nice if you do :o) We'll post the prize worldwide so we need to be able to contact you through your blog.

Here are some examples

I love this Halloween Boo! decorated pocket, it was so much fun to make - and really quick and easy. I think I'll have to make a few more because the kids in my class would enjoy them.

The pocket is a Maya Road kraft envelope that we are now stocking in the Ribbon Girl store. For this project I used the purse shaped envelope but we also have square, decorative and wavy scallop envelopes and they are sold in packs of 5 for only £1.60 - each pack has 5 different sizes of kraft envelope

I inked my envelope with black ink and added some lovely orange, black and white halloween papers and embellishments, changed the little string wrap that comes with the envelope to more funky black and white bakers twine and added a spotty button and coordinating ribbons

After I made this project I went for a hunt around the web looking for other projects using the Maya Road kraft envelopes:

An Advent Calendar - I've had this saved in my favourites for ages!
Gift card envelopes - I think I want to make Christmas versions of these

News and cards to share

Last week I shared a card by Wendy, one of our lovely customers and today I want to share the good news that we loved Wendy's cards and projects so much that we invited her to become a Ribbon Girl and join our Design Team - and she said YES!  Hooray! We are really excited.
Wendy has already been playing with Ribbon Girl goodies and these are a few of her latest cards

Wendy has a blog filled with beautiful projects but she also has her own online store, The Clipart Fairy selling the most delightful digital images and graphics. We're so pleased that Wendy decided to join us and can't wait to share more of her cards here on the Ribbon Girl blog

A Decorated Gift Box

This is the gift box that I made for a family wedding we all went to on Saturday. It started off life as a pink and blue patchwork effect heart shaped box with a leaf pattern all over it - it really was as dreadful as it sounds - so I changed it.
The papers are all from a digital kit by Zoe Pearn called Serenity

I used these gorgeous pearls from 3DJean, I love that in one pack you get all the different sizes which was just perfect for this project as I wanted to use lots of different sizes

I used guipure lace, loopy ribbon, white organza and the rose is from the seasonal, special offers section - all adhered using the ultra sticky double sided tape

Talented Customers

Here at the Ribbon Girl we are always interested in what our customers are buying their ribbons for, we love to hear what you have been making and even better see what you have been making so we were thrilled when Wendy emailed us and said she had been busy creating with our products and had posted a card on her blog. Well, Wendy didn't just make a card - she created a mini masterpiece and she has kindly said we could showcase it on our Ribbon Girl blog
Wendy created this gorgeous card using guipure lace and bells and roses from our seasonal and special offers section and her blog is packed with gorgeous cards, thanks so much Wendy for sharing it with us.

Announcing our final DT member!

We're really happy today to be able to announce the final member of our Design Team. The very talented Jo Kill has become a Ribbon Girl and she finalises our team. We are so excited to welcome Jo to the team and can't wait to see what she and all the other girls create with our products.  Jo has already been using our products and she made these gorgeous cards

Jo has some gorgeous cards and projects on her blog as have Debbie, Jane, Kath and Lucy and you can find links to their personal blogs over there ----->> on the sidebar.

As well as jumping up and down with excitement that we now have a complete Design Team and packing up
and posting orders we have been keeping the postman busy with deliveries and putting lots of
new products into the shop ~

Wider satin spot ribbon

New colours of centre spot grosgrain ribbon

New gorgeous 5/8 inch stitched edge ribbon
Small jingle bells and other seasonal items

Perfect sticky stuff for ribbons and lace

New colours of the popular pencil stripe ribbon
New patterns of both cotton and guipure lace

Party Favours

Today I wanted to share these cute party favours that I've made using our little packets and coloured bakers twine.
These little packets are actually what we use to package up our buttons and twine but we found that they were useful for so much more than just posting your goodies out to you - party favours, enclosures for journalling tags and to hide treasures away on scrapbook layouts, little pockets to go on cards and tags. We found this card on Kirsty's blog that she had made by recycling the button packaging from an order and so started the journey of stocking the packets in the Ribbon Girl shop. We have 3 different sizes, sold in packs of 10 and they can be found here

I'll be back later on with a shop stock update and the last of our exciting news regarding our Design Team
